Dr. Gjivoje completed her undergraduate studies at Brown University in 1988 and her D.V.M. with High Honors at Michigan State University in 1994. She completed an internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at the Oradell Animal Hospital in 1995 in New Jersey. As a General Practice Veterinarian, she owned and operated her own Small Animal Hospital in New Jersey for 23 years. During that time, she was recognized by Congress as a distinguished woman in Veterinary Medicine in 2013 and as a leading woman entrepreneur in New Jersey in 2017. Currently residing in South Carolina, Dr. Gjivoje continues to practice Veterinary Medicine in the Greater Charleston Area.
Dr. Gjivoje has a special interest in Geriatric and Preventive Veterinary Medicine and has been a major champion of nutritional supplementation. Dr. Gjivoje was instrumental in the founding of the MYOS Animal Health Business as she recognized the potential of Fortetropin® to address muscle atrophy in dogs. Dr. Gjivoje persuaded MYOS to conduct its first Veterinary Clinical Trial, a study at Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine that demonstrated that Fortetropin reduces muscle disuse atrophy following TPLO surgery.
